Another brilliant documentary I caught on TG4 the other night, the
story of a suffragette, a dedicated Fenian, a revolutionary, a feminist,
a Surgeon-General and Captain in James Connolly's Irish Citizen Army,
Kathleen Lynn, who was also the chief doctor treating the wounded
during the Easter Rising and because Dublin had the highest infant
mortality rate in the world when she became a doctor in 1902, in
addition to dedicating herself to helping Dublin's poor, especially
struggling mothers, she became the founder of Ireland's first infant
hospital, St. Ultan's in 1919.
Well worth a watch !
